some major topics in the ABO like embryology, biology of tooth movement

This book does not cover some of the basic theory required for the ABO exam. For example, some major topics in the ABO like embryology, biology of tooth movement, bio-materials, extractions, canine impactions, root resorption, white spot lesions, presurgical orthodontics etc. are overlooked in the text. Instead, there is an overemphasis on 3D imaging with chapters 5, 25 and 26 dedicated to this topic. Similarly the contents in chapters 12, 20, 24 are never questioned in the exam. Also, I found there is too much overlap between some topics (e.g. functional appliances ch 11 & 13). The chapter 12 on Invisilign system looks as if it is an advertisement sponsored by Align Tech (most of the references in this chapter are from non-peer reviewed sources). Ideally the authors should have provided an unbiased overview of all clear aligners. The chapter on skeletal anchorage (ch 18) is more about conventional palatal implants rather than mini-implants that are often the focus of the ABO exam. The chapter I liked most was the one on craniofacial deformities (Ch 21) which was well written.
Actually, when the second edition of this came out I expected that some of the shortcomings of the first edition would have been corrected. But unfortunately only cosmetic changes to the page layout have been done without rigorous editing of the content. Some of the answers are too wordy and fails to answer the question. For example, one of the questions in chapter 11 is “What are the contraindications to early treatment?” Instead of providing a direct response to this straightforward question, the answer provided by the authors are “early orthodontic treatment is not always necessary or appropriate. Certainly not all orthodontic therapy delivered under the guise of "early treatment" is good treatment, as for example in instances of young patients being treated for extended periods of time with regimens that have ill-defined goals and unpredictable outcomes. In such situations, early treatment may serve only to increase treatment duration and cost; such intervention may result in patient and parental "burnout." Early treatment is not indicated in those instances in which early intervention does not change the environment appreciably for dentofacial development and permanent tooth eruption”. Even wasting time to ready this lengthy essay, I am cannot still find the contraindications for early treatment. 
So my final take: this book may be ONLY used in the initial stages of preparing for the exam for providing an overview of some clinical topics and should NOT be relied as the sole text for the ABO exam.

As he entered the middle period of his career, with volumes such as The Continuous Life (1990), Strand was already well-known for his ability to capture the subtle music of consciousness, and for creating painterly physical landscapes that could answer to the inner self: “And here the dark infinitive to feel, / Which would endure and have the earth be still / And the star-strewn night pour down the mountains / Into the hissing fields and silent towns.” In his later work, from Blizzard of One (1998) which won the Pulitzer Prize, through the sly, provocative riddles of his recent Almost Invisible (2012), Strand has delighted in reminding us that there is no poet quite like him for a dose of dark wit that turns out to be deep wisdom and self-deprecation. He has given voice to our collective imagination with a grandeur and comic honesty worthy of his great Knopf forebear Wallace Stevens. With this volume, we celebrate his canonical work.

About the Author
Mark Strand, born in 1934, was the author of many books of poems, a book of stories, and three volumes of translations, and was the editor of several anthologies. He received many honors and awards, including a MacArthur Fellowship, the Pulitzer Prize (for Blizzard of One), the Bollingen Prize, and the Gold Medal for Poetry from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. In 1990, he was appointed poet laureate of the United States. He died in 2014.

COLLECTED POEMS MARK STRAND - One of Our Greatest American Poets - Read Him! He's an Original!

Mark Strand died just a few months after this COLLECTED POEMS was issued. I remember asking at the bookstore, Isn't Collected Poetry reserved for a posthumous anthology and Selected Poetry for a living poet? And the bookseller showed me a New York Times review which asked the same question. Well, I guess we have our answer. The poet was probably very sick, close to death as this volume was being prepared. But enough about the poet's death. MARK STRAND was the most vibrant and vital of men, and one of our best modern poets. He early on found his characteristic voice and developed a style to suit it - both unmistakably Strand. I suppose Wallace Stevens was his model, both poets skilled at tracing the mind's grasp of reality, both with an uncanny sense of the working of consciousness. If that sounds cerebral. it's the fault of my prose, because Mark Strand's poetry is anything but cerebral in impact. It is light, airy, incandescent, star-like and often very witty. He is able to make the most ordinary events seem unreal and the most unreal events everyday. Again and again he will amaze you with a view of things both
reasuringly bizarre and dangerously ordinary. A Mark Strand poem opens the door of wonder and admits you to a new world for as long as you wish to stay. Buy his Collected Poems and you can come and go as you please - forever.

What a ride!

Mark Strand doesn't care what I think. He's dead. I only came to poetry late in my life (I'm 75) and I'm a composer and not terribly good with words. Strand plays with my mind in a strange way...not to be too corny, but sometimes my jaw drops at his insights. "How could he/she think of this" I often feel when listening to music I love. Strand is the first poet that has caused me this sensation...although I am very fond of other poets, especially Jennifer Grotz.

Phil Pringle is the Senior Minister of Christian City Church Oxford Falls in Sydney, Australia, and the founder and president of Christian Church International (C3i). Originally from New Zealand, Phil and his wife, Christine, started Christian City Church (CCC) in 1980.

From small beginnings, CCC has grown to become one of the largest and most influential churches in Australia. Globally, the CCC movement now consists of over 100 churches spread throughout Australia and New Zealand, North America, Asia, and Europe. The entire movement of vibrant churches has been birthed as a result of Phil's leadership and vision.

Phil's dynamic and relevant preaching has made him a much sought after speaker in both Christian and secular contexts. He is particularly noted for his insights on topics such as faith, leadership, the ministry of the Holy Spirit, church building, and kingdom principles of finance and giving. Phil and his wife live in Sydney's north beaches region. They have three children.

A Step-by-Step Guidebook to Moving God...

This book is a little beauty. Faith is key to walking with Jesus, but rarely are we taught how to do it, how to pray and live confidently knowing that God will answer our prayers in faith. As Pastor Phil states "God is a good God. It is God's will to answer my prayer." (p40) But what's clear is it needs to be the right prayer. This book provides the guideposts with a 7-step approach to answered prayer.

The 7 steps:

1. Desire
2. Decide
3. Ask
4. Receive
5. Speak it
6. See it
7. Act it

are logical and Pastor Phil provides excellent Biblical references plus examples from his own life to explain each step.

This book emphasises the power of the Word of God and accordingly, is based on rock solid foundations, supported by real life examples from such luminaries as Dr Yonggi Cho, Pastor of the largest church in the world in South Korea.

This is a really easy book to read written in a practical manner so the reader can use the wisdom immediately in their own lives.

Highly recommend it.
