Understanding Mary Shelley!

Mary Shelley was a legendary pioneering writer who was also a female. Maybe she's best known for creating the frightning novel, "Frankenstein," about the mad doctor Dr. Frankenstein and his creation but the book itself was revolutionary. She captured the horror of playing God in a male world. Reproduction is largely a woman's role. Men can't give birth to babies but women can. It's the only thing that women are allowed to do. Dr. Frankenstein procreates his monster out of bits and pieces of others and plays God. Mary Shelley opened a door to the horror genre maybe to the science fiction world long before it's time. The essays and scholarly research is about Mary Shelley's contribution to literature and the world itself during a time when women were still oppressed and unable to vote in her native Britain until the early 1900s. Mary Shelley's contribution to literature may only be well-known for Frankenstein but the tale has become a legendary and inspiring to movies, musical, spoofs, parodies, plays, and other stories by other creative writers. Just because the author was a female, she displayed her talent in creating a story that has still stood the test of time. We all know about Frankenstein whether we have read the book or not, Shelley's imagination and literature has opened our minds to more possibilities of playing God which sometimes doctors, nurses, scientists, and others do. For example, people today can determine the sex of their child and it's characteristics. This wasn't even possible in Mary Shelley's day. Maybe that's why she has become more important because she imagined men playing God and that's against mother nature. This book will open your mind and make you think. If you are studying Mary Shelley and Frankenstein, this book would be worth the cost. If you want to just read more about it, then go to your library. The price here is too much.
