Meet the Cars is currently the one to get

I'm a pretty big fan of Pixar's CARS and was actually disappointed that the DK's CARS ESSENTIAL GUIDE just didn't give me the knowledge that I wanted. And what is it that I want? I want a book that gave me the background info not on the main characters - but EVERYONE ELSE. I'm talking about each and every other race car (besides the main three) and a whole lot more.

This book is currently the CLOSEST at doing just that, giving you a short paragraph back story on *almost* every car seen in the film, including the year, model / make of the car as well. Did you know that every race car has an individual name just like Lightning McQueen? I sure didn't and you'll find them all here (not even the Mattel toys give you the name of the individual race cars).

I'm sure in time there will be an expanded book as they've left out a handful of background characters (excluded from the book are some racers like LEAK LESS and NITROADE) and they're missing some of the names on a few as well (the book lists Chief No Stall, not Roman Dunes which is his name). Despite the incomplete nature of the book, this is the next best resource for CARS you can currently buy, following the BluRay of the movie itself.

And just to be clear, this IS a children's book so don't expect hardcore Star Wars type bios and stats pages. So if you or your kid is more interested in reading about the different cars than about Radiator Springs or the Piston Cup, this is the book to get. If the photos on the amazon page doesn't help, pick up the book at the book store and give it a careful glance if this is the book to add to your collection.

This book is for real fans.
Inside you will find the description of most cars you watched in the movie. Sadly, it's missing the four cars from the highway at night gang (boost, wingo, dj and snot-rod).
All in all, the quality of the book is excellent, hard cover, very fine pictures and a full poster.

This is the perfect book for any cars fan. I have a three year old boy that destroys these books because he looks through them so much. He likes to look at every car and ask me his name.. this goes on and on until we go through every car in the book. Takes forever!! ...then when we finish the book, he starts over!! ahahah high quality hard cover book. worth every penny!!

Extremely good book - not an easy read

We used this book for a six week course in organizational design and got through the entirety of the book in those six weeks. This text is well-written and provides good examples but it is a very slow read since the material is so dense. At times the writing style seems dry but I have learned a lot using this book and it is very informative. Well worth its steep price.

This is informative but just drawn out in my opinion. Things that could have been gone over in a chapter section are given their own chapters as a whole and it becomes pretty tedious to go over the same facts 2 or 3 times. While it has good study points the book itself was written in such a bland unattractive manner that it was hard to digest some of the topics easily. A note for textbook writers that we as students appreciate it when the texts are written in an almost personal way, it alleviates some of the boredom of a particular topic especially one that is a core class and doesn't relate to all majors or interests. Hopefully someone will see this and take this into heart because some of my textbooks including this one were just a struggle to find the attention to get through even though the outlines were perfect.

New to the SAS Business Intelligence platform? This is the book for you. Renu clearly steps the reader through the many BI tools available to the SAS programmer. Best of all, she clearly uses examples from the payer-side of the healthcare industry. This approach makes the information immediately useful to the healthcare programmer/analyst. Learning a new tool in the context of familiar data is an often overlooked feature of educating the business analyst. Clear and readable graphics and screenshots allows the reader a quicker understanding of the presented material. Wish I had this book years ago!

Very Practical, Humble and Thorough

I easily read this book in a couple sittings and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. I thoroughly enjoyed it and found myself motivated to be a more aggressive witness for Christ.

By far the best part of this book is the first chapter, at least that is what impacted me the most. In it you have some clear principles of what to do and what not to do, and some wordtracks that look like they could be really effective in getting to the point in a harmless as doves manner. There are admonitions on preparation, prayer, dress, discernment, etc. VERY good chapter.

The rest of the book is good as well and focuses on dealing with folks that are caught up in damnable doctrines. The author helps the reader to understand why they believe what they believe, and how to show people the truth without being a jerk at the same time (imagine that!). I respect that the author is humble and presents multiple PLAUSIBLE interpretations for problem texts.

There are things, I suppose, that someone could get hung-up on in this book and wind up not liking it or trashing it to others publically or privately. I honestly believe that you could do that in just about any book. Having grace and being a mature Christian means gleaning what you can when the meat is put in front of you - and there is much to glean from this book.

About the Author
Michael Misja, PhD, BCPCC, is a Christian psychologist and cofounder of North Coast Family Foundation in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio. He has counseled, taught, and spoken on Christian counseling for more than twenty years. In addition to the daily call show he hosted for six years, Michael developed and taught a program in Christian counseling for Moody Extension School for ten years. He has also served as cofounder and clinical director for inpatient and outpatient Christian counseling centers. He and his wife, Lin, found God and were married in New York City, where they were active in the arts and in ministry. They have been married twenty-seven years and have four children.

Charles F. Misja, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and cofounder of North Coast Family Foundation in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio. He has hosted a Christian call-in talk show on several radio stations and has taught at the college and seminary level. Chuck maintains a clinical practice and has been involved with missions work in Brazil for many years. He and his wife, Jackie, are high school sweethearts and have been married thirty-seven years. They have three grown children and six grandchildren. Chuck enjoys running marathons, downhill skiing, and fishing with his grandchildren.

A Must read if you have a difficult marriage !!!!!

Michael and Chuck Misja make it very simple to understand how marriages become "difficult" and how one can "thrive despite". I have been to numerous counceling sessions (alone..."since I'm the one with the 'problem'...") and have not received this indepth understanding nor practical ways to restore my dignity and learn to live again. I have a long way to go but feel hope for the first time after reading this book.

I am half way though this book, it has validated everything I have been feeling for the last 15 years in a difficult marriage. It's what you need to read when you've tried everything else and it's not a matter of just learning to communicate better, or learning to speak his love language, or making yourself love and respect,regardless....it's the book to read when despite everything you've tried, you still have a difficult marriage and you're tired of just surviving or existing. It's about thriving as a whole person and loving YOUR life with God.

There are few works like this. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle is perhaps the sole greatest written work to tell the history of England during the "Dark Ages." Bede's histories also compare nicely. This is a "just the facts, ma'am" book. It tells what happened, when, where, & to whom. There is some detail (more in later years), but mostly it's quite to-the-point. Still, it's a fascinating book. It is mostly updated to modern English, but I had to Google unfamiliar words & terms periodically. The book would have been a bit easier to read if a glossery of terms that don't translate well to modern English had been included. Otherwise, this book was well worth the money.
