Book Different than Expected

I downloaded the beginning of Gerard Straub's book on my Kindle and really liked the prologue, especially his account of meeting God again in a Roman chapel. I didn't realize that the book consisted of very short paragraphs, formatted to look like poems, and I found that the meditations themselves were not either inspiring or particularly well-written. I love this man's heart and what he is doing for the poor, but I found the book to be disappointing.

Inspiring

When I first picked up this book no matter what page I turned to it hit home for me of where I am on my journey. It gave me a lot to think about, deep, and be thankful for things I take for granted. I also like this book because it is not one that you have to read page by page.

a bit biased

I know Gerry Straub, so maybe I'm biased, but I do like the book for what it's intended to be. It's a compilation of short, random thoughts, prayers, reflections, observations, etc. that give insight into how Gerry experiences God. The beauty of the book is that it can be (and should be) read just a single entry at a time, or a page or just a few pages at a time. A great book to keep at bedside.
Gerry's preface and his prologue give great insight to his journey from atheist Hollywood producer to the warm, humble, caring Christian that he is today.
